What is Shared Ownership?

Shared Ownership gives first time buyers and those who do not currently own a home, the chance to get on the property ladder. Through the Shared Ownership scheme, you can purchase an initial share of between 25 and 75% of one of the apartments at No 1 Creekside and pay rent to the Council on the remaining share you don’t own.

Because you only need a mortgage for the share, the deposit required will be much lower than if you buy your home outright. The share you buy will be assessed to ensure you can afford the monthly payments associated with buying a property. When you buy a shared ownership flat in Creekside, you have the opportunity to increase your share of the property at a later date through a process known as staircasing.

Together with your mortgage payments, you will also pay towards the maintenance of the building and communal parts. This is known as a service charge.
